White Tea Overview

White tea is the least processed of all teas derived from the Camellia sinensis plant, making it exceptionally delicate, fresh, and high in antioxidants. Unlike black, oolong, or green teas—which are roasted or oxidized—white tea undergoes minimal processing and is simply air-dried.

Harvesting and Production

• White tea is made from young tea leaves and buds.

• Leaves are hand-harvested only two days per year, just before they unfurl.

• The fine white hairs on the buds give white tea its name.

• Leaves are gently air-dried and packaged as full-leaf loose tea or in unbleached tea bags.

This careful handling preserves its mellow flavor, light body, and natural sweetness.

Caffeine and Antioxidants

• White tea contains low levels of caffeine—less than green or black tea.

• It is naturally rich in catechins, a type of polyphenol with antioxidant properties that may help support a healthy inflammatory response.*
